Illinois DUI Risk Education: Drugs

The Birt Group is located in Wheaton, Illinois and it provides Illinois DUI Risk Education for Illinois DUI offenders.  The State of Illinois requires that DUI offenders learn about many topics such as Alcohol as a Drug, Drugs other than Alcohol, The effect of alcohol/drugs on the individual & family, Resources for help, and Illinois DUI Penalties and Laws.

In a recent post we covered our DUI risk education class re: Alcohol as a Drug.  DUI’s are commonly associated with alcohol and how the depressant can adversely affect your body and ability to operate a vehicle.  Driving while under the influence, however, can occur if the offender consumed other drugs such as stimulants, depressants, inhalants, hallucinogens, certain prescriptions medications, certain over the counter medications, cannabinoids (marijuana), etc.

While a DUI as a result of driving under the influence of alcohol typically results in the offender submitting to a breathalyzer test to determine the blood alcohol concentration, a DUI as a result of other drugs typically results in blood and urine testing.  Such testing generates toxicology results that are used to determine what substances were consumed by the offender.

At The Birt Group, one of our DUI risk education classes covers drugs other than alcohol and we cover the following information:

1. physiological and pharmacological effects of drugs other than alcohol; and

2. other drugs, legal and illegal, and their effects on driving when used separately and/or in combination with alcohol

Illinois DUI Risk Education must be taught by a qualified professional at an Illinois licensed agency.  The Birt Group is licensed by the the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.  All staff are licensed and qualified to provide services for Illinois DUI offenders.  The Birt Group runs DUI Risk Education classes every Saturday and we also offer a unique expedited DUI Risk Education by appointment.
