Why would one need to see a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (“CADC”)?

A Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor can address any of the following issues:

  • Education of substances, substance use, abuse, and addiction
  • Prevention of substance use
  • Substance abuse (alcohol, prescription drugs, and/or illicit drugs)
  • Substance Addiction (alcohol, prescription drugs, and/or illicit drugs)
  • Continuing Care and Aftercare

Do you have to be addicted to work with a CADC?

No. A person does not have to be addicted to a substance to meet with a CADC. A person just needs to be in need of education or support. Many people that work with a CADC are not addicted to a substance, but have experienced consequences from substance use, such as:

  • school warning or suspension
  • job warning or suspension
  • job loss
  • injury
  • DUI/DWI
  • family conflict
  • divorce
  • legal problems
  • financial problems
  • health problems

Anyone can benefit from a private, supportive, and confidential relationship with a CADC. Talking with a CADC is a proactive approach that promotes self awareness and positive goal setting which can help prevent future consequences, substance abuse, and/or addiction.

Does The Birt Group provide Court Ordered DUI Risk Education and DUI Counseling?

Yes. The Birt Group, Inc. helps people involved in the legal system as it is highly familiar with the legal system and court procedure. We are on the court approved list for both Cook County and DuPage County.  We can provide services for other counties throughout Illinois.

How much to DUI Risk Education and DUI Treatment cost?

Our fees are comparable to other agencies in the area and we are the only agency in the area that provides services on Saturday and Sunday.  We are different than most agencies as we accept credit cards, in addition to cash and checks, for payment of services.  We frequently approve payment plans for our clients as well. Please contact the agency for the most current prices and to discuss the option of a payment plan.

When are the DUI Risk Education Classes and Treatment Groups offered?

  • Expedited Risk Education offered Monday – Friday by appointment
  • DUI Risk Education Class* – Saturday morning
  • Private DUI Counseling offered Monday – Friday by appointment
  • DUI Counseling Group* – Sunday morning

*Additional Classes and Groups are offered with adequate enrollment.
